With an election year on tap, it is unlikely that many bills will pass through Congress and onto President Barack Obama's desk, but a slate of bills dealing with how small companies raise money has a chance to buck that pattern in 2012, attorneys say.

“In my experience, everything slows down in an election year, from a legislative standpoint,” said Charles D. Vaughn, a partner with
Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. “These are bills where there may be enough bipartisan support to get them passed.”
