As a place of healing inspired by loving service, St. Mary’s Medical Center constantly seeks out new services and innovations to provide the best for its community. In turn, the St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation plays its role in finding ways to make these ideas for continued growth and development come to life.

“The primary focus of the foundation is to support the mission of St. Mary’s Medical Center,” says Robert L. Hardwick, immediate past chairman of the foundation and executive vice president at First Sentry Bank. “So it gave me and the other members of the board a great sense of accomplishment to help raise funds for initiatives like the new Center for Education. But it was also just a delight to be involved with the sisters and the administration who provide unbelievably caring service for the people in this community.”

The new chairman of the foundation and managing partner at the law firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, Marc E. Williams, agrees with Hardwick that it’s a pleasure to play his part in contributing to the continued health and growth of St. Mary’s. “I was thrilled with the opportunity to be one of the original members of the foundation board in 2004,” Williams says. “But the greatest things I’ve learned have been through getting to know the sisters and seeing how their guiding principles of faith and healing are really interwoven into every aspect of the medical center.”

Williams brings an incredible depth of board experience to his new position, including a term as the president of an international lawyers organization and a current United Way board member. “I look forward to opportunities to expand the charitable giving aspect of the foundation,” Williams says. “This can bring in more financial resources to enhance St. Mary’s mission and change people’s lives.”
