Benjamin A. Barnhill is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who practices in the Firm’s Greenville, S.C., office. Mr. Barnhill focuses his practice on corporate securities, mergers and acquisitions, bank regulatory, and executive compensation matters, with an emphasis on community banks and established private companies headquartered in South Carolina.
Mr. Barnhill represents financial institutions and their holding companies during the organizational, capital raising, and business combination processes. He advises these entities on both bank regulatory issues and public reporting obligations. Mr. Barnhill also has extensive experience advising financial institutions and other companies on matters involving the interlocking spheres of executive compensation and corporate governance.
Mr. Barnhill also serves on the board of directors of the Furman University Young Benefactors Society and the Greenville Symphony Vivace Society.
Mr. Barnhill earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University in 2002. In 2001, he earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he served as articles editor of the ABA Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal and was a member of Phi Delta Phi. In 1998, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History, cum laude, from Furman University where he received the Alfred S. Reid Award.
