Brian D. McAlhaney is an associate of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough and a registered patent attorney, practices in the Greenville office in the areas of intellectual property law and intellectual property litigation.

A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. McAlhaney is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. District Court for the District Court of South Carolina.  Mr. McAlhaney is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Carolina Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Association, the Greenville County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorney’s Association.

Mr. McAlhaney’s practice focuses on domestic and international patent and trademark prosecution as well as litigation for patents, copyrights, and trademarks.  Mr. McAlhaney’s practice further includes counseling clients on a wide variety of intellectual property issues, including issues relating to the management of patent and trademark portfolios, and the availability, infringement, validity, and enforceability of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

Mr. McAlhaney earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2006 from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2002 from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Mr. McAlhaney is heavily involved with local service projects on behalf of the Firm and serves on the Firm’s Recruiting Committee.
