Bryson M. Geer is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who practices in Charleston. She handles a wide range of complex business litigation matters, including banking litigation, financial and accounting fraud cases, state and local tax litigation, contract disputes, insurance matters, real estate disputes and shareholder and partnership disputes.
In the banking litigation area, Bryson routinely handles cases for lenders involving white collar crimes, including claims of embezzlement, forgery, breach of trust, check kiting and Ponzi and other financial fraud schemes. Additionally, she and another partner recently tried a month-long case in federal district court on behalf of a U.S. bankruptcy trustee to prosecute fraud and RICO claims against the officers of a company who had orchestrated a massive Ponzi-type scheme to defraud their clients.
Bryson regularly appears in both state and federal courts and has tried numerous cases to verdict in state court, federal court and the SC administrative law court. She has handled post-trial motions and appeals in both state and federal courts and is also very experienced with alternative dispute resolution methods, including arbitrations and mediations.
A member of the South Carolina and North Carolina State Bars, Bryson is admitted to practice before the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the District of South Carolina, the Eastern District of North Carolina and the Western District of North Carolina. She is a member of the South Carolina and North Carolina Bar Associations as well as the American Bar Association, the Charleston County Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. She is active in her community and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Aquarium.
Bryson earned a Juris Doctor in 1997 from the University of South Carolina School of Law where she was a member of the South Carolina Law Review. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Davidson College in 1993.
