T. Carlton Younger, III is an associate in the Raleigh office of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, where he practices commercial and complex business litigation, including commercial and financial services litigation, class action defense, insurance litigation, unfair trade practices cases, and appellate advocacy. Mr. Younger represents a broad range of clients, including lending institutions, insurance carriers, and financial companies. He handles matters in federal and state courts, arbitrations, and special proceedings.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Younger worked with another Raleigh law firm where his practice focused upon professional liability claims, commercial real estate disputes, claims for violations of federal and state debt collection practices, claims for violations of constitutional rights, fraud and unfair and deceptive trade practices claims, and coverage disputes.
Mr. Younger is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina. He is also a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, and has served on committees for the Wake County Bar Association. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Younger served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Martha A. Geer at the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and Mr. Younger has used this experience to assist in many appeals pending before the North Carolina and Federal Appellate Courts.
Mr. Younger earned his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the North Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of the Holderness Moot Court Bench's Invitational Team and Executive Committee. He also earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Economics, with distinction, from the University of North Carolina in 2001.
