Dan Westbrook is a partner in the Columbia office of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough. Mr. Westbrook represents healthcare providers in business litigation matters, including the False Claims Act, CON matters, and administrative appeals.
A member of the state bars of both South Carolina and North Carolina, Mr. Westbrook is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.
Since 1997 Mr. Westbrook has served on the board of the South Carolina Death Penalty Resource & Defense Center, a not-for-profit corporation that provides legal services to death penalty defendants. Mr. Westbrook is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Richland County Bar. He is past chairman of the South Carolina Bar's Health Law Committee, Nelson Mullins' Pro Bono Committee, and has taught health law as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law. He has been listed for his healthcare practice in Best Lawyers in America since 2008. Best Lawyers also has named him the 2012 Columbia, S.C., Health Care Law Lawyer of the Year. He has appeared in South Carolina Super Lawyers since 2009.
Mr. Westbrook earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and an MFA from the University of North Carolina. Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Westbrook spent several years as a professional actor with the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival and the Cleveland Play House.
