Edward E. Poliakoff is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who chairs the Firm's Government Relations Group and practices in Columbia in the areas of legislative lobbying, administrative law, state agencies and insurance regulation. A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Poliakoff has extensive experience representing clients before the South Carolina General Assembly and state agencies as a registered lobbyist.
Mr. Poliakoff maintains an active regulatory practice before the S.C. Department of Insurance. He also advises clients on compliance with the lobbying, conflict of interest, and campaign finance provisions of the South Carolina Ethics Act.
Mr. Poliakoff is the author of the South Carolina chapter in Lobbying, PACs, and Campaign Finance, 50 State Handbook, issued annually by Thomson/West Publishing Company. He is admitted to practice before the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. Mr. Poliakoff is a member of the American Bar Association, Richland County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association. He is a past recipient of the Columbia Jewish Federation Distinguished Service Award and a past recipient of the Harvard Alumni Association's Hiram S. Hunn Memorial Schools and Scholarships Award.
Mr. Poliakoff earned a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was associate editor of Law & Policy in International Business. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University.
