George Teague is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. He manages a legislative practice in Raleigh and practices in litigation, insurance regulation, and administrative law.
Mr. Teague has represented clients before the N.C. General Assembly since 1980, including the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, American Council of Life Insurers, Aetna, CIGNA, General Electric Corporation, Prudential Financial, the Mortgage Bankers Association of the Carolinas, the N.C. Insurance Guaranty Association, and the N.C. Association of Electric Cooperatives. He recently earned the twentieth place ranking of Most Influential Lobbyist as determined by the North Carolina Center for Public Policy and Research survey of legislators, lobbyists and the Capitol Press Corps. His involvement in civil litigation spans 30 years and recently he’s represented the North Carolina Guaranty Association in insurance insolvency matters. He has extensive experience representing clients before the North Carolina Department of Insurance, including insurance rate matters.
Mr. Teague, active in the Raleigh community, is a former president of the Friends of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and a member of the advisory board of the North Carolina Safe Kids. He sits on the board of trustees of the Wake Education Partnership and the Board of Trustees University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Mr. Teague earned a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1971 where he was associate editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. In 1968, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar and was named to Phi Beta Kappa.
