Gus M. Dixon is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP and practices in Columbia in the areas of securities law, corporate law, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, outsourcing, special litigation and corporate investigations, and technology law. A former chairman of the Corporate, Banking and Securities Law Section of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Dixon frequently writes and lectures on significant corporate, securities and technology-related issues.
A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Dixon served as an adjunct professor of legal writing at the University of South Carolina School of Law from 1998-2002.
Mr. Dixon is recognized in the Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business publication for his experience in Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions. Mr. Dixon is also listed in the Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Dixon has been a member of various organizations, including the South Carolina Investors Network, the Columbia Technology Entrepreneurs Council, the Midlands Information Technology Council, the Software Developers Association of the Midlands, Leadership Columbia, the World Affairs Council, the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals, and the Outsourcing Institute.
Mr. Dixon has been a member of various task forces and Blue Ribbon committees and currently serves on the Subcommittee on Legal Opinions for the Corporate, Banking, and Securities Law Section of the South Carolina Bar.
Mr. Dixon is also active in the community by, among other things, serving in various volunteer positions with the Boy Scouts of America, Rotary International, and the Souper Bowl of Caring, a nonprofit organization established to mobilize youth to help the hungry.
In 1988, Mr. Dixon earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he served as Articles Editor of the South Carolina Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Order of Wig and Robe. Mr. Dixon earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Government, cum laude, from the University of Virginia in 1985.
