Helen E. Quick is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Washington, D.C., where she practices in corporate, finance, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate representation of companies primarily focused on the healthcare sector. Ms. Quick also serves as Vice-Chair of the Firm's 3rd ranked Healthcare Practice Group.

Experienced in corporate transactions in the healthcare industry and a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events, Ms. Quick has an extensive history advising clients on a wide range of corporate, tax, employment and regulatory issues (both within and outside the healthcare field). Her experience includes structuring, negotiating, and documenting purchase and sale transactions, mergers, joint ventures, private financings such as asset-based, cash-flow, and real estate loan transactions and private equity and venture capital equity transactions.

In addition, Ms. Quick provides legal guidance regarding general contracting, licensing and strategic planning matters and she regularly assists clients with implementing the building blocks of an effective corporate governance and compliance program.

Ms. Quick is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Library of Congress Child Care Association, a nonprofit affiliate of the Library of Congress dedicated to providing high quality child care for employees of the Library of Congress, other legislative branch offices, other federal departments and agencies, and other children in the community. Ms. Quick has been named to the DC Leadership Circle of The White House Project, a national nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization, that aims to advance women’s leadership in all communities and sectors, up to the U.S. presidency. She also is a Founding Member of the DC Chapter of WLMA (the Women’s Leadership and Mentoring Alliance), a nonprofit whose mission is to cultivate networking, mentoring, and career development opportunities for women, while encouraging seasoned women professionals to build alliances with younger women professionals as the younger women develop their networking and leadership skills and a member of the Steering Committee of the  DC Chapter of WAVE (Women in Private Equity and Venture Capital), a national organization committed to the development and advancement of women in private equity.

Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Quick worked for over five years as a partner at the leading healthcare law firm in Washington, D.C. Her experience also includes spending nearly five years as in house counsel for two technology companies, most recently as Vice President and General Counsel for a Washington, D.C. based broadband communications company. Ms. Quick began her career as a corporate transactional attorney for a total of six years at two leading law firms in Washington, D.C. and New York.

Ms. Quick is the co-author of the first two editions of Answering the Call – Understanding the Duties, Risks and Rewards of Corporate Governance, a book that provides an overview of what one should consider as a member of a board of directors – including an overview of the various areas a director may be personally liable, an in-depth look at D&O insurance, and a chapter on the importance of board diversity.
