Holly A. Hempel is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who practices in Atlanta in the area of civil litigation with an emphasis on product and premises liability, automotive law, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, toxic tort litigation, and business litigation. In her practice, Ms. Hempel represents business clients in breach of contract and other business-related disputes, and she represents manufacturers and dealers of products in breach of warranty, fraud, and other related claims. She also manages national litigation for clients where her responsibilities include national defense and resolution strategies. In her practice, she has extensive experience with complex medical and technical issues and multi-district litigation. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Hempel practiced in the areas of architectural and engineering malpractice defense and managed the defense of asbestos litigation.
 
A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Ms. Hempel is admitted to practice before all State and Superior Courts in Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the District of Northern Georgia, and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL), the National Association of Women Lawyers, and the Defense Research Institute. Ms. Hempel is also a former member and secretary of the executive board of Fulton County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association. 
 
Ms. Hempel is the immediate past president of the Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers (ACYL). She is also a member of the Executive Board of the Atlanta Bar and a member of the Atlanta Volunteer Legal Foundation’s Board. She has been an active member of various sections and committees of the Atlanta Bar Association, serving as chair of the Membership Committee, co-chair of the Law School Outreach Committee, and holding all executive offices of the ACYL.
 
Ms. Hempel is a 2008 graduate of the GAWL Leadership Academy. She is the 2006 recipient of the Kerry Harike Joedeckle Atlanta Young Lawyer of the Year Award. In 2005, she was a speaker at the National Association of Women Lawyers’ Transitions: From Backpack to Briefcase program in New York. Additionally, in 2005, 2009, 2010, and 2012 Ms. Hempel was named a “Rising Star” in the Georgia Super Lawyers publication. Also, Ms. Hempel is a 2004 graduate of Building Trial Skills, National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
 
Ms. Hempel earned a Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1999. During law school, she was a member of Phi Delta Phi, the Student Bar Association, and the Moot Court Board. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, Ms. Hempel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Rider University in 1996.
