Jeanne M. DiGiorgio is of counsel to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in the Firm’s Boston office. Her practice focuses on intellectual property law in the biotechnology, chemistry, pharmaceutical, and life science fields.
Ms. DiGiorgio has more than 15 years of experience in intellectual property prosecution, including complex patent portfolios, strategic landscape and freedom to operate reviews, and patentability and infringement opinions, with specific knowledge in antibody therapeutics, genetic engineering, and vaccines. She assists patent counsel of leading biotechnology companies and is responsible for working with them to develop global strategic plans for creating and protecting their intellectual property.
Her notable experience includes:
- Representing national and international companies of all sizes, sole inventors, start-up companies, and leading academic institutions
- Experience in securing patent rights for therapeutic monoclonal antibodies
- Drafting the patent application that formed the basis of a $2.1 billion licensing agreement
- Preparing and prosecuting international patent portfolios for Bristol-Myers Squibb/Medarex, Novartis, and Amgen Inc.
A member of the Massachusetts Bar, she is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Association of University Technology Managers, and the Boston Patent Law Association.
Ms. DiGiorgio is a frequent speaker whose recent presentations include “Patent Prosecution Strategy: Issues, Considerations and Solutions,” Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) 2010 Annual Meeting, March 2010 and “Antibody Prosecution Strategy,” American Conference Institute, Biotech Advanced Forum, Menlo Park, CA, February 2007.
In 1995, Ms. DiGiorgio earned her Juris Doctor from the Northeastern University School of Law. In 1985, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the College of the Holy Cross.
