Jennifer Fogle Shealy is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Myrtle Beach where she practices in the areas of corporate law, employee benefits law, tax-exempt organizations, and taxation.
 
Ms. Shealy has substantial experience in working with organizations to obtain tax exemptions under Section 501(c)(3) or another provision of the tax code, as well as assisting tax-exempt organizations with operational compliance issues. Ms. Shealy also works with for-profit entities and their owners in structuring tax-efficient corporate transactions.
 
In addition to her experience with tax-exempt organizations, corporate law, and taxation, Ms. Shealy also has worked extensively with employee benefits, including 401(k), profit-sharing pension, and other qualified retirement plans and remediation of plan qualification defects.
 
A member of the South Carolina Bar, Ms. Shealy is the author of "Abbeville County School District v. State: The Right to a Minimally Adequate Education in South Carolina," 51 S.C. L. REV. 420 (2000). She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Horry County Bar Association. 
 
Ms. Shealy is a former member of the South Carolina Bar’s Tax Council, board of directors of The Lowcountry Food Bank, and the Executive Committee of the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation.

In 2002, Ms. Shealy earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University where she was a graduate editor of the New York University Tax Law Review. In 2001, Ms. Shealy earned a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law where she was a member of The Order of the Coif, Phi Delta Phi, and the Order of Wig and Robe. She served as Associate Articles Editor of the South Carolina Law Review and received the Arthur B. Custy Tax Law Award and CALI awards for constitutional law and federal practice. Ms. Shealy also earned a Master of Business Administration from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina in 2001. In 1997, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Accounting, summa cum laude, from Wofford College where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
