James E. Holmes, Jr., of counsel to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, practices in Atlanta, in the areas of corporate and business law, and commercial real estate. A member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Florida Bar, Mr. Holmes is also a registered professional engineer in the State of Florida. He has extensive experience in negotiating and closing commercial transactions, including acquisitions, financing and the development of real estate; formation of business ventures and real estate investment funds; and purchase and sale of business assets. Mr. Holmes has represented both landlords and tenants in connection with the leasing of over one million square feet of office, industrial and telecom/tech space. He also represents lenders in foreclosure matters and loan workouts.

Mr. Holmes is a member of the American Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association.

In 1993, Mr. Holmes earned a Juris Doctor, with honors, from the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida where he was named to The Order of the Coif and was a member of the University of Florida Law Review . Mr. Holmes earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida in 1981.
