Elizabeth C. (Kate) Helm is a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough's Atlanta office, where she practices in the areas of product liability and insurance litigation. She has experience in the areas of insurance litigation, class action, healthcare litigation, and complex commercial litigation. She has extensive knowledge in all aspects of civil litigation, including liability defense litigation.

Ms. Helm represents clients in litigation nationwide and has handled matters in more than 15 states. She has significant experience in coordinating litigation, discovery, and technical issues on a national basis to ensure each individual matter is handled in a manner consistent with the overall litigation strategy. Ms. Helm advises clients on risk management, insurance coverage, loss prevention and litigation training, and has substantial knowledge of information management and the protection of trade secrets.

Before joining Nelson Mullins she was associated with another large law firm. She also has worked as general counsel of a national healthcare company.

She is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the American Bar Association (Women in Products Liability Section). In the community, she has served on the Board of Trustees of Haygood United Methodist Church (2006 - 2007) and the Greater Atlanta YWCA (2000 - 2001).

She earned a Juris Doctor in 1987 from Emory University and a Bachelor of Arts in 1984 from DePauw University.
