Kathleen King Smith is an associate of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough who practices in the areas of corporate law and taxation.
A former law clerk with the South Carolina Governor’s Office, she also is a former summer associate of the Firm, where she gained experience in litigation and corporate law. She also has been an English teacher at Yangzhou University Foreign Affairs Office in Yangzhou, China.
Ms. Smith earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of Florida in 2008. In 2007, she earned a Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law, where she was associate student works editor of the Charleston Law Review, Student Bar Association Senator, a Writing Fellow, Secretary of the Business Law Society, a member of the International Law Society and the Women in Law Organization, and a brief writer in the 2006 Regent University Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition.
In 2001, she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in International Business, a minor in Mandarin Chinese, and a concentration in Finance from the University of Georgia. She also spent a semester at Johns Hopkins Nanjing Center in Nanjing, China.
