Michael R. Murphy is an associate in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough's Boston office where he practices in the areas of business litigation, consumer finance litigation, general corporate law and government relations. Before joining Nelson Mullins, he was associated with another Boston law firm. He also clerked for the Honorable Judge Louis R. Meloni in the New Jersey Superior Court.

Mr. Murphy is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Murphy has served on numerous campaign and finance committees including those of Senator John F. Kerry and Representative Michael E. Capuano. He also serves as the Chair of the Cradles to Crayons Emerging Leaders Council and as a Board Member of the Teach For America Greater Boston Alumni Advisory Board.

Before attending law school, Mr. Murphy taught elementary school in St. Louis, Mo., as a Teach For America corps member.

He earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2007 from Suffolk University Law School, where he was a member of the Moot Court Honor Board and the Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy. He was also named "Best Oral Advocate" in his section of the Legal Practice Skills Oral Advocacy Competition.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2002 from Dickinson College.
