Sara S. Turnipseed is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Atlanta where she practices in complex, multi-state product liability, commercial, environmental and toxic tort litigation.

Ms. Turnipseed has extensive experience in defending chemical exposure and other mass tort cases in state and federal courts. For some clients, she serves as national counsel directing their defense in jurisdictions throughout the United States. In that capacity, she is responsible for developing their national litigation strategy. In addition, Ms. Turnipseed serves as regional or local trial counsel for a number of other clients.

A member of the State Bar of Georgia and the South Carolina Bar, Ms. Turnipseed is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. She is a frequent speaker on various joint defense efforts and other litigation strategy topics at seminars throughout the United States. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Turnipseed was associate general counsel of Georgia-Pacific Corporation where she spearheaded the company's litigation and environmental practice.

Ms. Turnipseed is a member of the American Bar Association, the Corporate Counsel Association of Atlanta, the Defense Research Institute, the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, and the National Association of Women Lawyers (member, Evaluation of Supreme Court Nominees Committee). Her community service includes participation in Leadership Atlanta and service as a member of the boards of directors for Atlanta Urban League, the Decatur Education Foundation, the Georgia Academy of Children and Youth Professionals, and the Spina Bifida Association of Atlanta. Ms. Turnipseed also served as chairman of the City of Decatur Board of Education.

Ms. Turnipseed earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Trinity College.
