Sara Dowd Vanderbloemen is associate counsel to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who practices in Greenville in the areas of taxation and corporate law.
A member of the South Carolina Bar, Ms. Vanderbloemen is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Vanderbloemen worked for several years as a senior tax associate with a major international accounting firm.
In 2004, Ms. Vanderbloemen earned a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law, where she was named to The Order of the Coif and was awarded the Georgia Bar Tax Section Award for excellence in law school taxation courses. Ms. Vanderbloemen became a Certified Public Accountant in 1998, after earning a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 1997, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, summa cum laude, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Additionally, she was awarded the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award, given to the most outstanding student selected by the business school faculty, the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key, awarded to the business school student graduating with the highest grade point average, and was a National Merit Scholar.
During 2007 and 2008, Ms. Vanderbloemen served as lead associate in the merger involving a Greenville-based railway brake manufacturer with a France-based railway systems supplier, in one of the largest M&A transactions the Firm has handled from its South Carolina offices.
