Summer Programs - Charleston

We are pleased to host an exciting Summer Program in our office located in Charleston, a classic southern seaport known for its history, culture and beauty. The Charleston office's Summer Program is its principal source of entry-level associates. Mentors and work project coordinators are assigned to each summer associate and opportunities are provided to attend depositions, mediations/arbitrations, client and witness interviews, closings, hearings and trials that may occur during the summer. Work project coordinators ensure that summer associates are provided an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects with several different attorneys in the office, with practice area preferences taken into consideration. Summer associates have an opportunity to work with attorneys whose practice areas include Employment and Labor Law, Immigration, Intellectual Property, Product Liability, Business Litigation, Corporate, Tax, Securities, Banking, Bankruptcy, Trusts and Estates, Health Care, Environmental, and Real Estate Law. Formal evaluations are held twice during the summer, with input received from each attorney with whom the summer associate worked.

Educational luncheon seminars are held to assist our summer associates with their professional development. Social and recreational outings such as sailing, golf, dinner parties, and beach activities allow summer associates to get to know our attorneys outside the office. Our goal is to provide a balanced summer experience that allows summer associates to learn what it would be like to work in our office on a permanent basis. The Charleston office hosts a 12-week program, beginning mid-May and ending the first week of August. First and second-year students may be offered full or half-summer employment.

We hire our summer associates in a variety of ways. Nelson Mullins' South Carolina offices conduct on-campus interviews at USC, UNC, Duke, Vanderbilt and Virginia. We also participate in the Southeastern Minority Job Fair and the Southeastern Law Placement Consortium. Nelson Mullins' South Carolina offices also accept resumes from students who are unable to participate in on-campus interviews. Please contact your career services office to determine the dates of our visit to your campus or write directly to our Legal Recruiting and Development Administrator, Carolyn C. Early (P.O. Box 30519, Raleigh, N.C. 27622).
