The presentation, "New Opportunities and Hurdles: A Review of the New CMS Rules on Telemedicine Credentialing & Privileging," will provide an overview of the new CMS rules on telemedicine credentialing and privileging that became effective July 5, 2011.
The webinar will be presented by Alexis Gilroy, Partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, Washington, DC. Ms. Gilroy will review the continuing discretion of the "providing" hospital to rely on credentialing and privileging practices and processes of the "distant-site telemedicine entity"; the types of organizations that qualify as a distant-site telemedicine entity; the required elements of the written agreement between the "providing" hospital and the distant-site telemedicine entity; and practical implications of the shift in the credentialing and privileging processes to the distant-site telemedicine entity.
