South Carolina & Telemedicine—Pending Legislation Encourages TeleStroke Services in SC Hospitals
On June 1st the South Carolina General Assembly passed the Stroke Prevention Act of 2011 (S 588) that is expect to increase the use of telemedicine for stroke treatment. The bill is scheduled to go to the SC governor for review soon.
Among other measures, the bill requires SC's Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) to identify hospitals utilizing telemedicine in stroke treatment and provides a special designation for such hospitals. You can see the bill here.
