Nelson Mullins' Clendenen to Be Honored By Diabetes Association as a Father of the Year
BOSTON (May 4, 2011) – For striking a balance among career, community service, and family, Pat Clendenen will be honored June 14 by the American Diabetes Association and the Boston Father's Day Council as a 2011 Father of the Year. Mr. Clendenen is a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough's Boston office.
Each year, the two organizations honor men for a demonstrated balance of professional success, devotion to their families, and community leadership. Proceeds from the event benefit the American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Clendenen is the past chair and member of the Greater Boston Board of Directors of the American Heart Association, Massachusetts Affiliate, Inc. He served for six years on the board of the Wellesley Youth Hockey Association, Inc., and was its president from 1999-2001. He is a co-founder of Boston's Lawyers Have Heart 5K Road Race, and he has run the B.A.A. Half Marathon three times in support of the Maria Griffin Drury Fund at the Joslin Diabetes Center. Pat and his wife, Patty, were married in 1988 in Duxbury, and they live in Wellesley with three fantastic children: Paul, a freshman at Clemson University, is an active member of Phi Delta Theta and is studying business and languages; Drew, a senior at Portsmouth Abbey School, is active in sports and is looking forward to college; and Claire, a junior at Wellesley High School, is also active in sports and in various school and charitable organizations, including the American Diabetes Association.
The Boston Chapter of the National Father's Day Council is a volunteer organization that annually honors individuals who exemplify outstanding commitment to children, family, and community. Established in 1931, the National Father's Day Council holds Father of the Year awards events in 29 cities across the nation. Honorees have included John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Colin Powell, Jack Lemmon, George Foreman, and Wolf Blitzer.
