Nelson Mullins' Lehman Joins Claflin University Board

ORANGEBURG -- Claflin University has named Columbia partner James K. Lehman to its Board of Trustees. Also newly elected to the board was William A. Johnson, senior attorney and chief intellectual property counsel for Norfolk Southern.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Mr. Johnson and Mr. Lehman to our distinguished Board of Trustees,” said President Dr. Henry N. Tisdale “Their remarkable success in law and corporate America will prove invaluable as Claflin University forges ahead with its mission to become one of the premier undergraduate teaching and research universities in the world. They will add considerable talent to an already dynamic collection of visionary men and women who humbly serve on our governing body.”

At Nelson Mullins, Mr. Lehman practices in the areas of business, professional liability, and mass tort litigation.

He is the immediate past board chairman of United Way of the Midlands and is a past president of the South Carolina Philharmonic. Mr. Lehman also serves on the boards, Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce “Good to Great Campaign” and the Midlands Housing Alliance, among others.

He is a member of the South Carolina and District of Columbia Bars, and he is a 1990 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law.
