Bill Prince Joins Nelson Mullins' Health Law Group
COLUMBIA, S.C. (May 11, 2011) – William A. "Bill" Prince has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough's Columbia office where he is of counsel and has become a member of Nelson Mullins' multi-state health law department, the fifth largest health law practice in the nation. Mr. Prince, a former S.C. Health and Human Services (HHS) director, focuses his practice on Medicaid rules and reimbursement, health regulations, government regulations, and strategic planning for healthcare providers.
Mr. Prince has considerable experience in healthcare and was HHS director from September 2000 until January 2003. Mr. Prince reported directly to the governor of South Carolina and was responsible for funding services to seniors, purchasing and enhancing child-care services, and operating the Medicaid program. Medicaid contracts with 30,000 medical providers for $3 billion in health services to more than 700,000 people. He has extensive experience in long term care reimbursement and compliance issues. He has been active in the development of Medicaid policy initiatives relating to rural healthcare and rural hospitals.
Mr. Prince also has served as vice president of Government Relations and General Counsel with the South Carolina Hospital Association. He also served as Special Assistant for Policy Development and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Richard Riley. Before joining Nelson Mullins, he was special counsel at another large law firm and focused his work on healthcare law.
