Nelson Mullins' Suhr Recognized in 'Legal Elite'

SuhrCHARLOTTE (Jan. 5, 2010) – Business North Carolina magazine has named Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP partner John Nicholas "Jay" Suhr, Jr., to its "2010 Legal Elite," a roster of North Carolina attorneys selected by their peers as the most effective in their practice areas. Mr. Suhr was selected for his real estate work.

Mr. Suhr focuses his practice on commercial real estate finance and equity investment by national and state banks and investment funds and on representation of mortgage servicers in commercial loan securitizations. He also handles real estate acquisition and development deals, including air rights developments, and serves as North Carolina counsel to out-of-state lenders and real estate funds.

Business North Carolina magazine provides ballots to more than 19,000 members of the state bar to vote on whom they rate as the best in their fields. Respondents cannot vote for themselves, but can vote for other members of their firms as long as they vote for an equal or greater number from other firms. About 3 percent of the state's attorneys make the list, according to the publication.

Established in 1897, Nelson Mullins has more than 400 attorneys and government relations professionals practicing from offices in Atlanta, Boston, Tallahassee, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., and throughout the Carolinas.
